Detroit, November 21: The Tech.AD USA took place for the 6th time on November 21 - 22, 2019 and presented a fully packed program comprising icebreaker roundtable discussions, case studies, streams, interactive World Café and Challenge Your Peers sessions as well as the Auto Scale start-up lounge. The event is North America’s leading knowledge exchange platform bringing together 170+ stakeholders who are playing an active role in the vehicle automation scene discussing technical challenges for vehicle automation L4+.
With the 6th anniversary of the Tech.AD USA and after the successful launch of the award in 2018, we received tremendous feedback and inspiring award applications. Presented by we.CONECT and moderated by Saeid Torkaman (Director Partner Management – Automotive division) the award evening took place on Thursday, November 21, 2019. This year, the Tech.AD USA award exclusively honoured exceptional projects in the categories:
- Most Innovative Use of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning in the Development of Autonomous Vehicles & Respective Technologies
- Most Outstanding Autonomous Vehicle Technology Innovation of the Year
- Community Choice
Each of the nominees presented their AD project/ solution via a short video. The attendees of the award dinner had then to choose their favourite project, showing outstanding effort in taking autonomous driving to the next level.
Proud winner of the Tech.AD Award 2019 in the first category is the start-up Helm.ai. This automotive software company is building and productizing artificial intelligence technology, which unlocks the full market potential for fully autonomous driving. Runner-up in the same category was NVIDIA with their project ‘NVIDIA DRIVE Constellation’.
In the second category, AEye won with the iDAR Artificial Perception platform, whose innovations enable self-driving cars to intelligently assess hazards and respond to changing conditions. By combining software extensibility, artificial intelligence and smart, agile sensors, iDAR is able to capture more information with less data for optimal performance and safety. The second place goes to Foretellix with its Foretify Technology and the third place to dSPACE with AUTERA AutoBox.
For the last category, the audience took the chance to vote for their favorite project out of all nominees. Helm.ai was able to win this Community Choice Award.
All Tech.AD award winners received an exclusive trophy and certificate as recognition for their outstanding performance. In addition, we.CONECT donated $1,000 on behalf of the winners to support Doctors Without Borders, this year’s charity project.
