At Car HMI Europe HMI Expert Stéphane Feron, Peugeot Citroen Automobiles Velizy Technical Center, scribed an human centered HMI approach by giving a definition, examples, levels of automation and an associated evaluation procedure. The human centered approach proposes different levels of automation, each giving the human a different role in the car. Whereas manual or assisted driving vehicles require a human who is taking the role of a driver, partially or highly automated vehicles only need a supervisor or so called “drissenger”.
